Girls Empowerment Group Program

After three years, we welcome the return of the Girls Empowerment Group, suspended due to the pandemic.

The Y-COP Girls Empowerment Group, a subcomponent of the Y-COP After School Program, is offered to girls ages nine to 12 already enrolled in the program. The girls meet three times a week and learn about health and hygiene, building their self-esteem, how to avoid being bullied, diversity and inclusion, and so much more. These impressionable young ladies are provided with the tools necessary to be more independent, demand respect, and avoid negative influences.

Ms. Sharisse Ramos, a Clinical Social Worker with Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is the Program Coordinator.  WJCS is a partner of Y-COP, providing staffing support to assist in strengthening YCOP programs and services.  Ms. Sharisse will provide valuable lessons on how to avoid trouble, resolving peer-to-peer conflict, how to allow the girls to have positive interaction with each other, and the importance of their education.
